The Mission Makes Church More Interesting - July 10, 2005

I heard a song today coming from a car as we were riding bikes and it made a lot of sense for my current feeling.  It's a New Found Glory Song called "It's all downhill from here."  Not really feeling that way, but I feel good about today.  It was the first Sunday and it's amazing how much more interesting church is when you're a missionary.  I mean, when all you do is tract, ride your bikes, service and preach the gospel all day, church is truly amazing!  It's like your a professional church goer and all the stuff is practice to get you ready for game day on Sunday.  After church, we went to the Smith's for lunch.  What a great family!  They fed us this chicken and broccoli casserole and had an amazing pie after.  So nice of them.  We taught an amazing first lesson with great stories and examples and really got them participating.  The spirit was strongly present in the lesson!  After the Smith's, we went back to see our boy Joseph Thigpen.  What a guy!  He told us that he played for the Detroit Lions for 18 months back in the day.  He's now 50, but looks young and still jacked!  Got a little bit more information on his nephew.  Yancey still plays in the league for the Pittsburg Steelers and got a contract worth over $25 million for 5 years.  Getting paid!  Anyway, we talked about college football and given that I'm fresh I had a lot to add on the conversation.  Montague is awesome.  Such a cool guy and we are getting along well.  Great times to come!
